Summer Storm
Perhaps I’m spoilt, perhaps I’m selfish. I don’t like being told I can’t have something that I really want.
Today has been the hottest day of the year so far, it’s a humid and close heat that prickles my skin leaving me feeling languid and breathless. There is a tension in the air, the weather people say there will be a storm, I’m not sure that’s it, I think it’s me; I’m burning up on the inside with anticipation. Stepping out of the cooling shower the heat hits me again, perspiration beads across my neck and under my breasts. There is little point in drying myself so I just wrap my hair up in a towel and wander naked back to my room to get dressed for the evening; my movements stir the still air causing a welcome breeze on my wet skin. Picking up my sundress from the bed I slip it over my head, the fabric falling in waves over my curves, I fiddle with the buttons nervously thinking through the plan for the evening; it’s ridiculously clandestine, temptingly illicit, the promise and excitement adding to my rising desire, knowing I will touch you soon. I hastily wind my hair up loosely in a clip, it’s too hot for much makeup but that’s fine, I don’t wear a lot. Easing my feet into my heels I straighten to catch the sight of myself in the mirror, the concerned look I see on my face hardens into rebellious justification as I stride out into the night.
The city is sticky, it smells of fast food and diesel fumes. Arriving at the bar just behind my friends, we air kiss passing quick comments about the weather. It’s good to see the girls and the icy air conditioning in the bar is most welcome, we fall into our usual round of catch up chat: college, shoes, parties... Furnishing ourselves with cocktails I catch the bar owners eye, my co-conspirator; he winks at me, I smile back quietly. We sit at our favourite high table in the corner, the girls continue to gossip and I try to listen but my mind is occupied with excitement. I know the instant you come in the door as they stop talking, exchange worried glances and look at me, the concern on their faces does them credit; I smile at them, speaking quietly.
“I will be fine, please don’t worry.”
Warring families are quite ridiculous, so Montague and Capulet, this war was not of my making, or for that matter, yours. We have danced around each other all our lives, observed from the battlements, felt the swell of intrigue, ignored the chemistry, resisted the lure of attraction, and yet still the desire for each other sears our existence. Once this burning obsession is sated, what then? I cast my uncertainty to the recesses of my mind.
Twisting in my chair I watch you walk through the room, your thin white shirt clings to the contours of your muscular shoulders, accentuating your tightly controlled tension and magnetism. I feel my desire rising and long to push my hands inside your shirt and over your chest, my breath stops in my throat and I can feel my heart pumping faster; I can’t take my eyes off of you.
Appearing to casually survey the terrain you look around as your friends start gathering at their chosen table, our eyes meet and you freeze, a predatory animal catching sight of its prey, a fleeting twitch of a smile evident on your mouth. The room suddenly seems deathly quiet to me, although the happy chattering of friends meeting has not ebbed in the slightest. Heat flashes through my groin, I straighten my back as waves of desire cascade down my spine and I feel my chin lift in defiance of a world which tells me that you can’t be mine.
Joining your friends, laughter and amicable words exchanged, you placing yourself directly in my line of sight, your eyes flitting over my body, your mouth curving seductively. A waitress swoops at the table, you all order drinks and I tear my attention back to the girls. It isn’t time yet. They chat together happily, I have no idea what about; they are aware that my focus is not with them and don’t try and engage me. I can’t help but sneak another look, greedily drinking in the sight of you lazing back, hands relaxing carelessly on the arms of the chair, very still, not talking, ignoring your friends lively banter, watching me. I slowly uncross my legs allowing them to part momentarily, lingering, then lifting the other leg and crossing them again. Your hands grip the arms of the chair leaving me in no doubt that you saw what I’d intended you to see. As I move to pick up my drink, the fabric of my sundress falls away from my legs revealing perhaps a little too much thigh and I watch your gaze flicker down once more and then back to my eyes your jaw set with determination, your eyes dark with desire.
The bar owner walks past my table and nods at me politely, it’s time. I smile at you as you tip your head to one side questioningly; I finish my drink and place the glass on the table upside down, the signal. You knock back your drink, casually bidding your friends goodbye, without a second glance you leave the bar and within minutes the thrum of a large engine and the squeal of tires booms over the hubbub of bar noise. Flashing past the windows I watch your tail lights as they merge into the city’s ebb and flow.
Taking a deep breath, I excuse myself from my friends ignoring their pained expressions, returning their anxious hand squeezes. I pick up my bag and head towards the restrooms my carefully determined steps refusing to acknowledge the instability of my legs, butterflies churning in my stomach. In the corridor I pass the restrooms and take the doorway and the stairs to the owner’s car park on the roof. Pushing open the top door the heat of the evening stifles me, even at twilight the atmosphere is sultry and oppressive; clouds have gathered in the sky, there is a distant rumble of thunder and a warm breeze gusts, ruffling my skirt but offers little comfort. Firmly shutting the door behind me I turn the key and drop it into my bag, then walk to the edge of the roof to watch the last glow of the sun casting a brilliant apricot glow under the clouds as it slips behind the city, I force myself to breathe calmly.
Within a few minutes I can hear the echoing roar of a powerful engine making its way up the ramps. I close my eyes and let the sound of your approach add to my mounting anticipation. The car purrs to a halt behind me, the door opens and softly shuts, footsteps echo on the roof, hands gently pull my hair from my neck, soft lips caress my jaw, turning me gently you kiss me with stirring passion, nibbling my lower lip and flicking your tongue across my top lip. I melt into your body putting my arms around your neck running my fingers through your hair, fireworks exploding in my mind as heat spasms pulse through my body. Touching you, being held in your arms is exquisite; everything I had dreamt it would be.
“Finally!” I sigh, looking in your eyes, my needy body pushing against yours. I explore your face with my finger tips; the slight abrasion from your stubble creates a delicate sensation. “I want you.” Concern furrows your brow.
“Are you sure?” You whisper, I place a finger on your lips, smile and nod.
“Oh yes, I’m sure. Don’t you want me?” Uncertainty catches in my throat, my eyes plead with you, an uneven smile captivates your face and you laugh quietly.
Your eyes dart over the roof top, assessing the possibilities and then grasping my hand you lead me over to your car, it’s an Audi R8, your pride and joy, the deep grey paint reflecting the last of the suns rays with handsome menace. I can appreciate the beauty of the design the sleek lines with a smooth sex appeal all of its own. I run my fingers across the bonnet admiringly and look at you confused.
“The sexiest woman on the most amazing car” your eyes gleam at me mischievously as you sit me on the bonnet removing my shoes and hair grip, twisting a lock of my hair in your hand, pulling me to your mouth, hot with eager hungry kisses. You start unbuttoning my sundress, controlled haste filling your eyes with concentration, taking my nipple in your mouth gently sucking air over the tip and tugging it with your teeth as you undo the rest of the buttons and let the dress fall open.
